What is Arab Hip Hop Festival:

Arab Hip-Hop Festival aims to promote new ways to develop
and unite Hip-Hop fanatics around the Middle East &
North Africa. It is set to enrich different experiences for
everyone in the region and help promote Hip-Hop culture
and talents. Based on the key theme of street culture
and hip-hop, and the belief of its rising popularity & evolution
in the generations to come, the Arab Hip-Hop
Festival strives to provide a platform for Arab youth to
break boundaries without disrespecting traditional
values, while highlighting hip-hop as a dominant
genre in modern pop culture and entertainment.

Breakdancing :

The art of breakdancing with beats is a
contemporart talent that promotes a different approach to
more active and dynamic lifestyle among youth, and this
is what the festival strives for. The Arab Hip-Hop Festival
welcomes the best Arab hip-hop dancers around the
region to not only perform, but also meet and collaborate
with underground breakdancing enthusiasts and
help them grow through various techniques, such as
popping, locking, tap dance, lindy hop or house
dance. The most crucial purpose of bringing emerging
Arab breakdancers to Doha is to elevate the
scene of this dance genre in the Doha, as well as
to connect it more closely with the Arab culture
from a fitness and healthy lifestyle perspective.

Rapping:

Arab Rap has been constantly emerging and evolving as the art
of delivering a message from the deepest roots of the streets
and villages in Egypt, Tunisia, Palestine, Syria and Libya during
the Arab spring. For 6 years, the rapping culture in the Arab
world has proven a fact that it is not only performed, practiced
or appreciated for the sake of entertainment, but also, in delivering
key feelings, messages, and thoughts about current
affairs and issues.
The Arab Hip-hop Festival invites Satti from Jordan, Boikutt
and El Far3i from Palestine, Arabian Knightz, MC Amin from
Egypt and Malikah from Lebanon to perform on the main
stage and offer workshops to students and interested youth
in Doha.

Graffiti:

 Combining the traditional and the renowned Arabic calligraphy -
which is the specific art of inscribing eastern Arabic manuscript
from ancient periods – integrated with the modern westernized
twist of street art, the Arab Hip-Hop Festival promotes a unique
and phenomenal style of graffiti art within the region, further
connecting it with the Hip-hop culture.
Graffiti artists such as Ganzeer from Egypt have been invited to
perform in the festival and offer workshops for youth in order to
promote and take graffiti design to the next level.

Beatboxing :

Emerging in the early 21st century, Beatboxing is a form of vocal
percussion primarily involving the art of producing drum beats,
rhythm, and musical sounds using one’s mouth, lips, tongue,
and vocal skills. In the last decade, the beatboxing philosophy
has been augmented not only in the Arab world, but also especially
within Doha. The fact that Arab beat-boxers are marked
in the top-10 beatboxers around the world, proves the point
that there has been an growing of interest among Arab youth
towards this unique element of Hip-hop.
Ahmad Abazaid a Doha based Syrian Beatbox artist, B.M.G
& K.I.M from France are the key performers in Arab Hip-Hop
Festival 2014.

DJ:

Arab Hip-Hop Festival 2014 aims to provide young Arab DJs
a platform to not only showcase their electronic hip-hop
talent, but also to help them grow and connect with different
artists, and develop music production in the Arab world.
Through the first Arab Hip-hop festival in Doha, we aim to
connect the underground DJs in the region with the most
renowned Arab hip-hop DJ Sotusura, a Palestinian DJ
based in France. Through this festival, we see an era of
evolving networks of different DJs with diverse styles
around the region.

The festival :

The Arab Hip-Hop Festival 2014 is comprised of two parts: the
outdoor festival featuring various competitions, performances,
and featured zones, and secondly, the Hip-Hop Conference,
which is aimed to be the first annual hip-hop conference in the
region, welcoming experts and speakers from the industry.

The opportunity

for young and prospective hip-hop enthusiasts to experience live
participation in the hip-hop scene around the MENA region. The
festival offers a volunteering experience, a learning platform
